Chelmsford Central parkrun
Every Saturday at 9:00am, Chelmsford comes alive with one of the friendliest weekly community events in Essex – Chelmsford Central parkrun.
This free, timed 5k run/walk is open to absolutely everyone: runners, joggers, walkers, buggies, and dogs (on short leads) are all welcome. Whether you’re chasing a new personal best, getting some gentle exercise, or just enjoying a sociable morning out, there’s a place for you.
The scenic one-lap course starts in Central Park and takes you through three beautiful green spaces – Central Park, Admirals Park, and Tower Gardens – following a mix of tarmac paths and grass alongside the River Can. It’s mostly flat with just one gentle hill, making it ideal for all abilities.
Since its first event on 19 January 2013, thousands of local runners have taken part, with hundreds of thousands of cumulative kilometres covered. It’s a true community favourite, fully organised by volunteers.
